Her aim is to develop the "tapestry" technique, taking it outside the square and off the table onto the wall.
Vanja Venrooy is a Glass Artist based in Christchurch who creates fused art glass, leaded and copperfoiled glass objects.
She draws inspiration from the world around her, with her designs incorporating influences from other Glass Artists such as Ian Chadwick, Richard Parrish, Steven M Kaczmarek.
She is currently working on developing the "tapestry" technique, taking it outside the square and off the table, onto the wall.
Vanja enjoys experimenting with the combination of straight lines and the melted softness of the glass.
She also plays with the contrast between squares and circles, seeing what happens when she takes it "beyond the edge."
Vanja is working on evolving her "craft" into "art", and finding her artistic voice.
She also offers teaching workshops where she aims to deliver fun, creative and inspiring opportunities for others to come and make glass art.
